So my 4 year old was playing with a baloon this morning outside on the front lawn. Simple and happy - how things should be when - POP!
The baloon was a bit thin (he found it blowing down the street and "captured it" like a bug) and after a few dozen times of hitting the top of the lawn, it landed jusssssst riiiigggghhht when it burst.
He looked at me as I was talking to our neighbor when he looked at us and just asked "WHY?"
That's when I thought to myself how much like life that baloon is - it can be simple and going just how you may want it to, and change in an instant.
I spent a lot of time with my son today because of that baloon and will keep that in my mind because you just never know when it will all go "POP".
Thanks to my 4 year old for sharing something with his old man to put things back in perspective after having a few months of hell at work. He's a challenging kid - headstrong like is dad - but he's a blessing. Paired up with his big sister, I'd say I'm a pretty lucking man. I need to keep reminding myself of that and urge everyone else to do the same - find the good and the elegant in everything. There's far too much complexity anymore.
